Is French your second or foreign language? Would you like to improve your oral communicational skills and confidence in professional and social contexts? Whether you are currently employed or seeking work, this course is designed for you.
Note: To make the most of this course, you should already be able to discuss familiar topics in French.
General objective
To develop greater ease, confidence, and spontaneity in spoken French.
Specific objectives
Express oneself with more ease and spontaneity in a variety of conversations
• Expand vocabulary for interactions in different settings (work, leisure, everyday life)
• Use common grammatical structures in spoken French with greater confidence
• Recognize and correct aspects of pronunciation that affect clarity and understanding
• Understand and respond more quickly in oral exchanges
• Build the confidence needed to participate actively in discussions or to give simple presentations
Teaching approach
The course follows an interactive and communicative approach, focused on real-world language use. Speaking and listening are at the heart of the learning experience and may include:
• Guided conversations on topics related to daily life and the workplace
• Role plays, small-group discussions, and authentic situational exercises
• Listening and speaking activities based on audio and video materials
• Short grammar and pronunciation refreshers integrated as needed
• Practical exercises to enhance oral fluency, comprehension, and responsiveness
• Strategies for pursuing autonomous oral practice outside of class
This varied approach encourages participation, supportive correction, and natural progression. Grammar and pronunciation are addressed in context, always tied to the group’s real communication needs.
Evaluation
There is no formal evaluation. Progress is measured through active participation, the quality of interactions, self-assessment, and continuous feedback throughout the course.
Certificate of participation
A certificate of participation will be issued to students who attend at least seven (7) classes.
