Practical and interactive exercises

This course is designed for adults who are employed, seeking employment, or pursuing continuing education and who wish to improve their professional written communication in English. It focuses on clarity, conciseness, and accuracy of style, while helping participants craft effective texts for diverse business contexts.

General objective

To improve the quality and effectiveness of professional writing in English by developing writing skills tailored to the workplace (emails, reports, cover letters, memos, summaries, etc.).

Specific objectives

  • Write professional emails that are clear, concise, and appropriately toned
  • Structure and draft effective messages (invitations, reminders, follow-ups, thank-you notes)
  • Improve coherence and flow in written English
  • Use precise and professional vocabulary for various business contexts
  • Master key conventions of professional correspondence (greetings, tone, closing formulas)
  • Revise and edit texts to avoid common grammar and phrasing errors
  • Build confidence to write autonomously and naturally in English

Teaching approach

The approach emphasizes hands-on learning and personalized feedback through:

  • Guided writing exercises and projects inspired by real-life business situations
  • Case studies and analysis of authentic professional models
  • Rewriting, correction, and stylistic improvement activities
  • Individualized feedback to target areas for improvement
  • Listening and reading activities related to business communication (memos, emails, press releases, etc.)

Grammar and style are addressed contextually, according to participants’ real communication needs

Evaluation

Progress is assessed through active participation, the quality of written work, and continuous instructor feedback.

Certificate of participation

A certificate of participation will be issued to participants who attend at least 70% of the course.
