About IELTS
The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) measures the ability to communicate in English within academic, employment, or immigration contexts. It systematically assesses the four language skills:
- Speaking
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
The IELTS is available in two versions: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. The training course will cover various aspects of these test types to help you understand their nuances and prepare effectively.
IELTS General Training is designed for individuals immigrating to countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the UK, or for those enrolling in secondary education, training programs, or seeking work experience in an English-speaking environment. IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP IELTS, and Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
IELTS Academic is intended for candidates applying for higher education, undergraduate or postgraduate courses, or professional registration.
The test is administered at UQAM’s Centre d’évaluation des compétences linguistiques (CECL) de l’UQAM. For more information, please visit the CECL website.
