After a career in technical writing, he decided to pursue a TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). He describes this career change as <em>\u201cthe best decision of my life.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What does Gavin Twedily enjoy most about teaching? The company of his students.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIt&#8217;s a privilege to have met so many interesting, intelligent, friendly, and motivated people of all ages and backgrounds. I really have met hundreds (probably thousands!) of brilliant people, and it&#8217;s been a genuine pleasure!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a Business degree and a Technical Communication certificate, Mr. Twedily brings a practical, real-world approach to his classes, connecting language learning to the professional realities of his students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A warm and stress-free environment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His classes are, above all, welcoming spaces where mistakes are part of the learning process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI ask my students to let me worry about any mistakes!\u201d<\/em>, he says with a smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gavin Twedily makes sure each course is tailored to the group\u2019s needs, and he always strives to include topics that interest them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI encourage my students to let <\/em>me<em> know if there is something they don&#8217;t like, and I&#8217;ll try to change it.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gavin\u2019s secret to improving in English<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cPerseverance. Learning and perfecting a language takes time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gavin Twedily has been teaching English at Non-Credit Language Courses of UQAM since 2010. The courses are open to learners of all levels who wish to strengthen their oral or written skills.
